THE BUREAU OF PRISONS HAS ANNOUNCED THEY WILL HOST A JOB FAIR ON SEPTEMBER 16-18 AT THOMSON PRISON (AUSP THOMSON).
In order to work for the Bureau of Prisons, there are five main requirements that a prospective candidate must meet:
• Be a U.S. Citizen
• Be hired before reaching their 37th birthday (except for a few exceptions like Physician Assistant, Psychologist, and hard to fill medical positions)
• Must pass a drug test
• Must be up-to-date paying bills – not a specific credit score but no outstanding late accounts on a credit report (using Equifax)
Ability to successfully complete the Physical Abilities Test which includes:
• Walk/stand up to an hour
• See a human figure at a distance of one quarter mile or a target at 250 yards
• Hear and detect movement
• Use firearms
• Perform self-defense movements
• Lift, drag, and carry objects
• Smell smoke and drugs
• Complete an obstacle course within 58 seconds
• Drag a 75-pound dummy three minutes continuously for a minimum of 694 feet
• Climb rungs of a ladder and retrieve an item within seven seconds
• Run one-fourth mile and apply handcuffs within two minutes and 35 seconds
• Climb up and down 108 steps with a 20-pound weight belt within 45 seconds
