Betty Steinert, formerly the head of Whiteside County Economic Development and Administrator of the Whiteside-Carroll Enterprise Zone has recently been named to the newly created Illinois Business and Economic Development Corp.

The new, nonprofit board will focus on economic development and is designed as a tool to help make Illinois more competitive in terms of job creation and business development. The Illinois Business and Economic Development Corp. was created by executive order in February by Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner and is overseen by the states Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity.
