City Rebar finds Permanent Home in Morrison

For years, the Morrison Area Development Corporation (MADC) has focused on securing business entities in their Industrial Park located on the south edge of Morrison. Most recently the efforts were to secure a permanent occupant for the abandoned Altronics facility.  This 10,000-square foot industrial facility recently became the national headquarters for The City Rebar, Inc.

The City Rebar Inc. has been a long-time renter on Main Street and has grown as a national leader in the rebar detailing and estimating industry and has been a major contributor in the structural design and layout of New York’s renovations following the collapse of the World Trade Center in 2001.

The MADC, along with the City of Morrison and other local businesses collaborated to encourage this local business to establish permanent residence in Morrison by opening their national headquarters in the available building in the Industrial Park.  Working closely with the owner and management team, MADC put together a unique incentive package to encourage the company to remain a Morrison- based entity.

In mid-September, The City Rebar, Inc. bought the Altronics facility and moved their downtown operations into the Industrial Park in early December. The retention of this business keeps 20-plus jobs in Morrison and carries the potential for additional job creation of another 5-10 within the near future. The economic impact of the additional new jobs alone equates to an estimated additional payroll of approximately $325,000 to the local community.

This type of cooperation hopefully can stimulate other businesses to look at Morrison or existing businesses to reach out to MADC when planning expansion or developmental changes. MADC board member, Dr. Brad Yaklich stated “We are excited that The City Rebar, Inc. owners were willing to listen and work with MADC as we put together a package for them. This is exciting for Morrison.  We have some momentum and hope to encourage others to look at our community.”

Morrison Area Development Corporation is a non-profit entity responsible for assisting the Morrison area with economic development efforts.  This volunteer board consists of a variety of professionals who share the ‘love for Morrison’ and the desire to enhance the quality of life enjoyed by all Morrison residents.
